Music has always been a great tool to get me hyped up. Like a lot of hardcore music to help push through heavy weights in the gym or getting ready to go surfing 🏄
reply
That's great. Music is doing great to pump up gymmers? Does it change your mood? Do you become sad after listening some sad song or happy after listening a joyful sound?
reply
Yes for sure ! Some songs remind you of times in your life challenges of the time . Heart breaks, triumphs
reply
It definitely has! I've had some periods of deep sadness a few times in my life, as I'm sure many have, and during that time blues music provided a lot of happiness. I listen to and enjoy the genre when I'm feeling good too, but it was very cathartic during those times. I saw a quote one time that said "The Blues is happy music when you're sad." and I would tend to agree with that!

Music has always been a companion to my long drives and it's always made me feel easy everywhere. I'm glad the world has music.
reply
Music is an amazing outlet/escape. When I used to play in a band many years ago I firmly believe that those 2 times a week we practiced was as good as meditating 7 days a week.

Breaking! @grayruby has been a musician.
reply
Yes, music is my other passion besides sports and bitcoin.
reply
Glad to know we share the same passions. I have been a local stardom singer. I still sing in religious or other cultural gatherings. What instrument do you play?
reply
Guitar is my main instrument. I also play a bit of drums and piano.
reply
Great! Guitar isn't a big instrument in Indian music but I love it though I rarely got a chance to sing on it. Maybe we get together someday and you play it while I sing a Bollywood mashup.
reply
I would like to try sitar at some point.
reply
You know I was about to tell you a secret that my wife plays sitar and sitar and music had a huge say in our marriage.
Because you know guitar, you can definitely play sitar with a little bit of learning about Indian classical music.
Almost everyday of my life. Music is the main tool I can use to shift my mood or embrace it. Often, I can use music so lighten my mood and get me excited for the day. And sometimes if I am down, and I really want to dive into that feeling, I choose something sad. It's comforting in a way because I feel like I can relate to something when I am all alone. And it is sometimes just helpful to go through the darkness and get to the other side. My favorite album for this is by Beck, called "Sea Change". Great question. 💚
reply
Music has changed my mood for better and for worse. Right now, during the December season, Venezuelans listen to a music called "gaita", for some reason these songs make me cry buckets. When I lived in Venezuela, I always saw my grandmother cry almost all December every time she heard "gaitas". She explained to me that it was because she missed her mother (may she rest in peace) and some other relatives who have left this earthly plane. She also gets sad every year because for her it is a reminder of how ephemeral life is. In my adolescence I loved that music and I danced to it, but now that I don't live in Venezuela and I haven't seen my family for years, every time I hear gaitas it makes me cry just like my grandmother does. Listening to that music makes me miss my house, my mom, my dad, my sisters and it makes me think about many things. My grandmother and I are not the only ones who cry to this music, many people do, in fact there are memes about this, for some it is inevitable not to cry.
This is the worst of all, in the sense that you have to be a person without feelings to not cry (if you are Venezuelan)

I’m obsessed with indie rock and indie pop music, especially artists like Current Joys, Surf Curse, Radio Head. Every time I listen to their songs, I feel a whole new vibe coursing through me, no matter how many times I’ve heard them before. I mostly listen to music during my free time that is after work or on weekends. Whether I’m bored or feeling happy, music always sync with my mind, helping me relax effortlessly. Here is the one of my favorite - a sad song about a girl i no longer know - Charles Irwin
reply
Is triumphant a mood? haha That's how I always feel by the end of this song.
reply
There was this one time I was feeling very down, just sitting around not wanting to do anything. I put on some music, and it was like something shifted. My mood got lighter, and I even started smiling without realizing it. Music’s crazy like that it pulls you out of your head and reminds you there’s still some good vibes to catch.
I was listening to this this morning while commuting to office.
reply
Great analogy! Music always does it for you.

Thanks.

Reggae is one of the genre that help me to shift that mood.. cause of the rythm, love message, souvenirs, its roots (kind of tribal sound)....
reply
That's always been my mood changer. I love reggae for the clarity of sounds can touch your heart and soul.

People who don't lift may not understand, but you really need to get locked in mentally, especially before you hit a PR. You really need to put all the bullshit in your life aside and get into that moment.
I don't always feel like getting pumped, like getting that adrenaline pumping through my veins. Sometimes I just don't have it in me.
That's when I can lean hard into music. There's so many tracks that I can just blast and really lean into. It helps my mood, and gets me in the right head space.
reply
Congrats 🎉 You're the winner by the top filter. Great response.

NIN somewhat damaged just got me my bench PR a few weeks back 😁
reply
Getting after it 💪💪
reply
I'm trying to hit 315 next year. We will see. I'm weak on DL, what was your PR?
reply
The 200kgs (440lbs) eludes me still. 197.5kgs (435lbs) is so far the closest I've come to hitting it.
Is that 315 bench?? 143kgs, that's huge!! I've 1RM 107.5kgs (236lbs) but I can't seem to make 220 my working set yet, still we get after it and patience and discipline and the weight will come up.
reply
Yea i just hit a 300lb bench. I've been lifting consistently for just about 5 years now. I think the most i ever deadlifted was like 385. My knees are completely trash so I have a hard time going heavy on deadlift and squat.
reply
That's amazing man, you're killing it! 👊 I've refocused my efforts towards body building so my strength training has taken a hit, I should be a lot further down the line in the bench than I am. But it doesn't matter how long it takes, patience and discipline and the numbers will come.
I hear ya about knees, I was so scared to squat for years after a rugby injury but I'm glad I started as squats and deadlifts are my most powerful lifts.
before i do a cold plunge, i play Amon Amarth - Twilight of the Thunder Gods for the duration of the plunge. i started this ritual during recovery from surgery.
quick solo at 3:30 is cute, that's usually when i get out of the cold water =)

"Without music 🎼🎶 there would be no colors, and we would live in a black and gray world 🩶"
On many occasions, perhaps distressed, or sometimes upset, music has helped me at that moment, to think, relax my mind to be able to think clearly, and finally change my mood.
reply
In most cases music emphasize my mood, describes it more clear. On the other hand sometimes people irritate me, that's why I hide behind laud metal riffs. If everything is ok in my life I turn music off
Today this live version of Stained is playing on repeat in my headphones https://youtu.be/QAgTs3zWac4?feature=shared

Music is that magic, that essence that makes my life have meaning, without music this world would be empty, gloomy and yes of course many times my mood has changed when I have been sad or distressed it has raised my spirits 100% music is that which lifts you up, fills you, from the sweet notes of a piano, to the sweetness of the voices that interpret it is music 🎵.

I challenge anyone to be in a bad mood when this hits.

I've played hundreds of weddings gigs, so this song actually puts me in a really bad mood. That's just because of my personal overexposure to it though.

Yup, the worst for me are September, Superstition, Uptown Funk, Don't Stop Believing, and Proud Mary. Some of those are great tunes, but all of them I never want to hear again.
reply
Oooffff yeah don't stop believing has become an irritation.
I've been into bands like journey and that kinda genre for most of my life... And now people are all like "oh my gawd I looooove journey" knowing only that one song... And I'm trying not to be one of those gate keepers but sometimes songs like that that become so big just to me lose their appeal... Gotta say BoRhap is another of those for me.

The entity which we label as music is a portable faith healer. Ready to serve you with your usual dose of mood healing melody. My mood is my bete noire but music allows me to regain my forte.
reply
Music shields me from my usual mood swings. It is a very handy tool that does not cost much. I don’t know how to really answer this question but music is my own personal miracle worker. Better than Robots and AI.
reply
Music is chemical compound that we cannot see and hold. It is a mood healing miracle that we always pray for. Surprisingly it brings better than average results.
reply
Absolutely! Music has an incredible power to change my mood. There are times when I feel a bit down or stressed, and playing my favorite songs can completely turn things around.
Listening to upbeat or inspiring music lifts my spirits. Songs with cheerful rhythms or positive lyrics can make me feel more hopeful.
When I need to unwind, instrumental or meditation music helps me calm down and find inner peace.
Before exercising or facing a challenge, I listen to energetic music that drives me to give my best.
Music truly has the ability to transform my day. How about you? How does music affect you?
reply
Music is my daily anchor in the sea of uncertainty. It is my Vitamin C. I think it is not just my immune system that benefits. It improves the mood. Bad mood as a disease and music is the solution.
reply
That doesn't happen to me. What happens to me every day is listening to music that suits my mood. As music is life it caters to all types of feelings at the time.
reply
Real life is sometimes a very heavy burden to maintain. But most of the time my playlist cures me of this deadly affliction. Every moment my mood is making a nasty swing but I always to “control” it somehow.
reply
I have a deeper connection with music. I am thankful that I am built this way. Blowing my top is becoming more and more of a burden but this is where music helps me. It helps me improve my mood all the time.
reply
Whenever the rage hits me. Sometimes I could not manage to control it. It really affects my mood big time. But when a familiar tune hits me the rage fades away in an instant. Music is my happy pill.
reply
I find my mood influences what I listen to. Something I like one day I may skip the next simply because I'm not in the right frame of mind for it. The days I feel like I could use music the most I often feel like I can't figure out exactly what it is I want to listen to, almost a burn out of all the songs I like.
Music can definitely influence moods though. I remember being at a fairly busy bar, but it was relatively tame. Until someone put about forty five minutes of Michael Jackson songs on. Some weren't amused, but the whole vibe shifted to some drunken dance party.
