Trust me, I'm a Brit, I never knew anything about American football. I just thought they were fake (and soft) rugby imitators. (They're not).
I got into American football because of fantasy. Having skin in the game and rooting for your players really (in my opinion) helps you get involved and begin to understand the game in a really fun and interactive way.
I mentioned when I set the league up I am more than happy to help new players, coach them a little, point them towards resources that they might find helpful. It's a game at the end of the day and it's meant to be fun. I hope to emulate that for people in my leagues.

Make sure to draft a good kicker and defense right away

Running backs my guy, running backs. Wide Receivers are a dime a dozen, RB drop off is insane. Tight end has some positional scarcity but you either get one or you stream one.
Kickers turn and burn until you find a consistent one. And a top defence is useful but again, you can stream those.

🤣🤣🤣 especially this year. The kicker position has been a mockery this season.

Sometimes I like to imagine football without kickers.
I think you need punting though. You could get rid of kickoffs, field goals and extra points but you need punts.
