Rockets could win and then beat the Bucks in the finals. Then we would have to go to second tiebreaker.
So , if thunder loses tonight, would it be the next step the MVP?
reply
Yes, If Bucks win the final Giannis will definitely win MVP. But if Rockets win the final then we would go to second tiebreaker. I am rooting for the Thunder though. I hope you win it.

MVP is awarded for the entire Emirates Cup, so Giannis would most likely win it, regardless of whether they beat the Rockets.
If the Thunder do lose, you'll see why I loved @carresan's tiebreaker.

You can't give the MVP to a losing player. While that seems logical because Giannis has been awesome. I don't see it happening.

Yes, it makes sense

Jerry West begs to differ.

Jerry West? and you are calling me boomer. What year are you living in sir?

I guess the ABA playoffs are a more recent example, but even I don't know if they ever awarded Playoff MVP to someone who ultimately lost.
Mark my words, if the Rockets beat the Bucks, Giannis will be MVP.

I haven't gone back to check the rules. Honestly, you all have more incentive to figure this out than I do.
If I didn't provide a second tiebreaker, then I'll have you pick scores for the championship game. The first tiebreaker would be spread and the second would be total.
