MVP is awarded for the entire Emirates Cup, so Giannis would most likely win it, regardless of whether they beat the Rockets.
If the Thunder do lose, you'll see why I loved @carresan's tiebreaker.
You can't give the MVP to a losing player. While that seems logical because Giannis has been awesome. I don't see it happening.

Yes, it makes sense

Jerry West begs to differ.

Jerry West? and you are calling me boomer. What year are you living in sir?

I guess the ABA playoffs are a more recent example, but even I don't know if they ever awarded Playoff MVP to someone who ultimately lost.
Mark my words, if the Rockets beat the Bucks, Giannis will be MVP.

That would be lame. Hopefully the Thunder win tonight and it doesn't come to that.
reply
I hope the Thunder win it all and Giannis still wins MVP.

That would be interesting
Giannis has been amazing throughout this tournament; throughout the past while actually, be it NBA Cup games or not. I guess that's part of the reason why the Bucks are 12-3 in their last 15 games.
Now you are being completely ridiculous. You could argue since the Rockets don't have a superstar that Giannis would win but if the Thunder win SGA is definitely winning MVP,
