I think both Nic and the author of this of this article is missing forest for the trees.
The goal of US should simultaneously be: (a) SBR and (b) Stablecoin acceptance
If all US banks could process stablecoins, this would lead to a worldwide demand for USD via USDT/USDC.
If US banks were accepting stablecoins that would pressure (mandate in some cases) that other banks worldwide accept / process stablecoins as well...
The effect of this rolls out USD to potentially 6B users. Being able to amortize inflation over all those potential users would be direct benefit to US Treasury. (ie. exporting inflation)
Meanwhile, SBR would neuter BRICS as gold would be demonetized. The result would be immense benefit to US balance sheet + complete USD dominance.
This is the vision....

No, stablecoins are private coins run by companies like Tether, Circle, etc.

They may not be any different in the future. Stablecoins from Tether/Circle may be the CBDCs of the future OK?
