A long feature piece of the North Atlantic right whale.
All the usual tropes of left-leaning, climate-obsessed NYT shows up: Climate change is harming the whales, shipping speed and humans' voracious appetite for imported goods are to blame.
What about the wind turbines? Nope, a total myth. Journalist found some scientists ("experts") for us to trust: It's all just the shipping.
Humans, especially in Nantucket, needs to make amends for their past whale-related atrocities.
Whatcha say, Stackers?
I do think modern shipping has been hard on whales.
From what I understand, the frequency of propellers just happens to coincide with one of the primary sounds whales use to communicate. It's basically impossible for them to communicate over long distances like they used to.
I'm not familiar with the science around wind turbines on marine life. I've certainly seen reporting about it being very damaging, but I haven't looked into it.

Same, same. To both your points.
Hard to tell for a pleb, and hard to trust the NYT to be honest or accurate about this.
Besides, we have ships all over the world and most every other whale are recovering. What's different about the blues and the humpbacks?

Well, we could have scientists investigate that, but then you'd disregard their findings as part of a liberal conspiracy or something.

Possible -- who knows??

I call bullshit. Wind turbines. They don't like em. .. other factors exist. Obviously. Climate, anthropogenic. Nope.

Climate change is harming the whales
After we killed like 90%, now the climate is a problem?
reply
Yup. Modern-day eschatology.
Gotta repent, bro
