They also added support for setting a memo shortly after. This should allow it to be used for OCEAN Lightning payouts (although I haven’t tested it myself yet).

Finally! Thank you @adam_coinos_io

reply

Will be testing this on Ocean shortly.

Sounds good. Keep us posted. I’m curious how the second part of the process works.

I’m assuming you just need to sign the configuration message with the wallet that’s associated with your Bitcoin address (i.e. it doesn’t have to be the same wallet as the BOLT12 offer).

Correct.

I know I'm hella late on this post, but Bolt12 on CoinOS works. Can officially confirm. CoinOS is crucial right now.

reply

Never too late. Thanks for the follow up. This is huge! 🤙

reply

No prob. 👍

I got this working yesterday! Do you know how often payouts occur? If daily, is it at the same time every day for everyone?

reply

Nvm, I just realized it’ll be whenever a block is found. 😅

reply

Awesome let us know if it works +1

Those are good resources. Thanks for mentioning them. 🤙

is the node blinding part still not a thing in bolt12? i paid an offer from my coinOS wallet to my CLN node, and my CLN node's public alias name was displayed to indicate who was receiving the sats. isnt that supposed to be hidden or something by the onion routing/ blinded paths?

reply

I haven't figured out how to do route blinding with CLN. I asked in their telegram group but no response yet.

reply

So it is integrated already or need to have an account with voltage?

reply

I can send/receive right now and I don’t have a Voltage account.

Oh fuck

Gotta say coinos impresses me more and more

reply

Bullish on @adam_coinos_io and the team.

reply

@adam_coinos_io what are you using for receiving bolt12 offers? You all running core lightning?

reply

yup, core lightning

reply

does this mean we could make like a lightning gift cert with an amount and then a recipient can scan it ? that would be cool

reply

i've just realised myself that, no, it doesn't mean i can make a gift cert lol

reply

The additional privacy for receivers that you can get with BOLT12 is really amazing. It's called "route blinding." Essentially, an invoice can come with the final few hops through the network included and wrapped up in layers of onion routing encryption. The sender then cannot see what node the funds are destined for!

reply

i dont think this onion routing is live yet in bolt12. offers do not seem to not hide my CLN lightning node.

Does anyone know why the bolt12 string is a lot shorter than a Phoenix bolt12 string?
