WNBA is running this playbook right now with success... WNCAAB is surprisingly popular and many are able to make much more money in college now due to NIL. 1 year in college is not enough time to make an impact- let them develop skills for 3 years and create a loyal college fanbase that will follow them to the NBA.
The NBA needs to do something to increase the funnel for new fans, especially when games are all gate-kept and harder to access. Tiktok generation ain't got the attention span for 80 boring games.

You can see what this Caitlin Clark is doing for the WNBA. She is bringing a lot of new interest and former fans to the game. Unfortunately, all of her fans are rabid racists and should not be allowed to watch the games ‘cuz reasons. When will people quit this kind of attitude? Especially when they can earn more rewards for abandoning it.

I assume that it is about 0.2% that are racist. I am not sure because racism is either all consuming at 100% of everybody or it is fairly non-existent. Which is it? I am not sure. But the lefty/Marxist/socialist/communist/murderers are sure pushing it.

Haha yeah she is both the Great White Hope for the right and unfortunately wnba is filled with lesbians who majored in victimhood and triggernomics so Caitlin is stuck in the middle getting hate from both sides whom she can never make happy.

Since I am not a big fan of basketball, at all, I am not sure of what you are claiming. I can see that some people may be only following the one player whether pro or college, from the controversy they have aroused. I have noticed that college and pro games are vastly different and have come to the conclusion that college sports are finishing schools for the pros.

My point is that the casual fan watches superstars.
For example, I don't follow baseball but I will watch Shohei Ohtani hit or pitch

Yeah, in my household we watch because he is a Japanese superstar. My wife and son had bets going on every game of the World Series. It looks like he will be up to pitching next season, too. A double threat!
I followed CC since her insane march madness runs- as a result I now know the names of quite a few wnba players I never cared about before.
I also never cared about NFL until Stanford players I cared about (Luck, Sherman, Ertz, CMC, etc) started to get some real traction. There are many ways for people to get hooked onto different sports and they stay for different reasons but you need something to get them into the funnel.

Harbaugh was amazing took us to the Orange Bowl starting from nothing and brought us so many great memories including the Greatest Upset Ever (USC). Was so heartbreaking when he left- we limped along for several more years by reputation (David Shaw inherited great recruits but sucked) but I think now with Pac12 dissolving and NIL age we are toast.
