Yesterday and today I've gotten cowboy credits.

I don't want them. They might as well be likes. I'm going to take a break and see what happens. I'll watch and see before I leave the ranch.

NOSTR is now beating Stacker News.

Except now NOSTR has LLM bots responding.

I'll block and expose those.

I've given myself to Monday to evaluate what is going on here and then I'll decide to stay or leave. I won't be missed. I may return in a month like I did when the rewards were consolidated to longer periods.

For everything, SN prioritizes using cowboy credits. The one exception is when both the sender AND receiver of a zap have wallets attached.

Yes, That is first place I checked.

Initially there was no log records so I decide to submit my reply above.

But now there is a log record:

that's so weird, i have had WoS attached for ages and do get zaps from here regularly, so i know it's working.

and yet i was also sent a CC

but reading the post below, and seeing the fee message, does this just mean that doing little zaps of 10 etc is simply too small an amount?

if so, is there any way we can change it, or will i have to mentally adjust to a new, more terrifying zap threshold?

In your settings, you can control these dust limits for yourself. If the sender wants to send you CCs though, you'll receive CCs regardless of these settings.

How will this stop CC? As far as I understand, to receive or send sats for zaps both peers need to have external wallets. Stacker with CCs only can zap CC only.

Here we see something similar to the real world, good money and bad money... obviously we can use the bad money (Cc) for expenses and small things, but we will look for storage priority for the good money (SATS).

In the case of SN, use your (Cc) for your comments, publication fees and some generic Zap. and the ***(SATS)***⚡ you will use them when something or someone really brings you value. and you will receive them when your work or comments bring value to another. and this other person makes you a real Zap ⚡. And at the company level, SN no longer handles third-party funds. Only some (Cc) that are something fictitious that only has value within the platform. At the regulatory level, they will no longer bother you for using bitcoin. Here, Bitcoin will circulate between individuals in a P2P way without the intervention or management of SN.

And on the other hand, I think that the use of (Cc) is good, because that will scare away the Assmillkers who only come here to collect SATS. without any real contribution.

I think that with this update we will now see more clearly the Philosophy of VxV

If you still don't understand why (Cc) are necessary at the business level in SN. instead of continuing to manage the $S A TS$ . then it's probably best to step aside and dedicate yourself to caring for and feeding your Cat. 🐱 you're just not looking at this (Cc) issue from the right perspective.

I invite you to reevaluate the situation so that you understand it, and if at the end of the day you don't understand it. you can always go back to Facebook or other similar places, where we've always been and without really getting anything.

Here at SN you get value from different fronts, in knowledge, in information resources, in "authentic" experiences (although there's always the Assmillker, telling lies to get some SATS) and finally ***(SATS)***⚡ real value, capable of supplying a need in the real world... and possibly some other that I'm missing.

The way I interpret it (I could be wrong) is that you will receive credits for zaps below the amount. So setting it low should make receiving Sats more likely. I could be confused, if so someone more knowledgeable will correct me.

Also I changed my "send credits for zaps below" to 5 Sats which is below my default zap amount. To make sure I am sending Sats instead of Credits when zapping.

This setting is only for telling us at which amount we should even attempt to try your wallet. You should set it to the amount you can withdraw to your wallet. For example, if you know we won't find a route for less than 10 sats, set it to 10 sats. It does not make sats more likely if it's already low enough. It will just result in more failed zaps on our side which will result in CCs for you anyway.

To make sure I am sending Sats instead of Credits when zapping.

This is the same setting as above just for the sending side

Cowboy Credits are like Fiat without any denominator so they are not scarce. Bitcoin is scarce. There are 2.1 quadrillion sats in the on chain protocol and only 5% are circulating in the zaps and boosts we do. The original premise of Stacker News was to earn sats for reading and posting. It has changed only because of the fear of getting rekt by financial regulators who want to regulate something they don't use or understand and that's the funny part.

I followed the procedure and I went through great lengths to make sure I have a 24 / 7 lightning node running. I don't want some shitcoin.

Whether we like it or not, regulars matter, that's why now they don't handle SATS and everything is done in a P2P. way. That's the first part we need to understand. Also SN has never been a site to earn SATS for posting or commenting on memes. The main focus is Spending.

Stacking sats is whole premise of Stacker News. We came here because we were in Hacker News, Slashdot and thousands of other bulletin boards. We wrote and we shared informing. Here we get to stack sats if our content or participation is good.

If the sender and receiver both have wallets attached, the zap exceeds both of their dust limits, and we can predict a successful route with a reasonable fee, the zap prioritizes using the attached wallets and real sats. If either the sender or receiver don't have wallets attached, the zap is below either of their dust limits, or the route to the receiver is too expensive, the zap prioritizes using credits.
