Exciting except they are commoditizing intelligence, what makes humans special.
I think there will be a lot of unrest once we have billions of directionless apes with nothing to do.
The world didn't collapse into "billions of directionless apes" either when the steam engine was invented.

True, every new tech shift has its fears. But history shows we adapt, find new purposes, and evolve.

I don't think history is will be a useful comparator here. The world will have never seen so many jobs get replaced all at once across multiple industries. This clash will prove to be more like an alien invasion IMO.
There is already a dearth of quality jobs worldwide. Any trip to a developing country shows there are tens of millions looking for opportunities but end up stuck selling a few vegetables street-side.
