Better not let us vote. Unless you like permanent power for the Dems.

Being a territory is a better deal than being a state anyway. I suggest Canada negotiate for that. No voting and no taxes.

Peurto Rico people pay taxes

reply

Not to the feds

reply

Yes they do.

Peurto Ricans don't pay federal income tax on income derived from within Peurto Rico.

Man look at all those qualifiers.

Workers in Puerto Rico pay Social Security taxes, self-employment taxes, and more. IRS figures for 2023 show that Puerto Rico paid $5,140,301, compared with Vermont’s $5,660,731.

reply

Oh dang. I didn't realize they paid Social Security taxes. I don't even know what "self-employment taxes" are.

The comparison to Vermont is strange, since Vermont is much smaller.

reply

Yeah that's admittedly probably cherry picked lol

reply

No federal taxes but our next socialist governor will make territory income tax 60%.

reply

Sure, but that was going to happen either way.

reply

You'll be like Peurto Rico. Forever a territory, never a state
