Cash App is really underrated IMO for noobs not running their own node.

It's still connected to a KYC'd account. There are better choices between running ones own node and Cash App. Muun or Blixt comes to mind. Even bluewallet (custodial LN unless connected to own node) is better than Cash App.

Yeah, I agree those are all better.
However fact of the matter is Cash app serves a massive chunk of lower income people in the US. They have over 40 Million users. The fact that all those users can use lightning without needing to install anything else , worry about backup keys or anything and from a brand they trust - that is the underrated part IMO.

When you’re ready to, can’t you just transfer your money to a different lightning wallet and “clean” the coins that way?
Cash App is also a super easy way to buy bitcoin. Many apps don’t have that

Too bad Cash App payments can be risky to accept, as you could instead sell your ⚡ sats on RoboSats for Cash App USD.

What other reason would you have to send sats to Cash App then?

Lol, now I'm confused.
You are saying you would send sats to Cash App then spend those sats from Cash App to buy stuff? About the only reason I can think someone would do that is because it makes an easy way to move sats from Lightning network to on-chain, and even for that there are better ways.

It's a simple way to participate in and use LN. Good to see this taking off.

Saylor posted to twitter about this
https://nitter.moomoo.me/saylor/status/1584973583477972992#m
I tried it and it works even though it's a little buried, and it's not a button.
- in cashapp, click on the "home" icon in the lower left
- click on the bitcoin chart below "add cash" below the three blue buttons, click the text "recieve bitcoin"
- click the big ugly 2d barcode
- click the copy icon to the right of "lighting network" to paste the lnurl to your clipboard
This is a lnurl you can paste it into another lightning wallet (strike, muun, bluewallet, WoS) and specify the amount to send from the outgoing wallet.
The UI won't update when you send the funds, but you will get a notification from cash app in your notification tray.
Then when you refresh your screen, the bitcoin balance will show as dollars at the top of the screen, but if you scroll down you will see the sats balance.

I don't see this feature yet. I have Cash App v3.76.1 (October 19, 2022) on Android. I checked Play Store and no updates. For those who have this feature, what version of the app are you on?
I know Cash App sometimes rolls out updates gradually, so maybe I'm just not getting the update with this just yet.

if you go to receive bitcoin > share qr code; the qr code will have both an onchain address as well as a lightning invoice

Yup, it's working now. It was only showing my on-chain bitcoin address before.
Now there's no address, just the QR code. They must have rolled that out gradually, which, with 40 million users, they probably do with every new release and feature.
Thanks for reply though, I might not have waited for a few days to see if a new app update was available, and ends up no app update was needed!
