The global pension systems were set up for constant or growing populations. Now the reproduction rate is collapsing worldwide and it turns out that these systems are nothing more than Ponzi schemes. As the working population shrinks, the burden on the individual shoulder to fund pensioners becomes economically unsustainable! They will have to print unfathomable sums of money to fill these tearing gaps. Fiat is dying its death over the pension systems alone. Get on the lifeboats now!

Every family gathering, whenever pensions come up and the older ones ask the younger generation "Why do you not care about your pension? Why do you only pay the required minimum?"
I reply, "Because we don't expect to see a single dime of it back. The <name of our state insurance "company"> will not exist in 10 to 20 years. It's mathematically unsustainable and will collapse. So enjoy yours while you still can."
They sigh and eyeroll at me. I think they don't want to believe it, because it existed throughout their entire lives, even though they know I've been researching this and have the receipts to back it up.

I think they also don't want to entertain that what they're retiring on wasn't entirely earned through merit.

I try to explain this to my parents and close relatives, and they still don't understand. For my part, I try to build my raft for the future. ⚡🍊

The non contributory final salary schemes are mostly wound up now, but for the existing members who will be expecting to receive their payments in years to come will be interesting.
In the UK state pension age keeps rising, it's already at 68, wouldn't be surprised if it's at 90 in a few years 🤣🤣 this Fiat implosion bleeds out, into the health service, hospitals, schools and a myriad of other sectors.
House of cards, the 4th turning will be epic.

Yeah, doesn't look good for PAYG systems.
Funded Systems are a bit less sensitive to the aging population problem.

I do not see how they could shift it back to capital based systems at this stage. Will be interesting to see them gaslighting the public while pumping liquidity into the scheme

Yes, in India it's already collapsed. The pension system to government service had been stopped a decade ago and other schemes are only providing for hardly any who needs it. There's a great debate in the government every year to everything as pension, but they are just reducing it.
