Hello friend. I write a blog at expatriotic.me.
Yesterday I posted "Expatriotic's Master List" on SN here and on my blog here.
This was effectively a road map.
I'm now going to commence this next phase of my blog.
But I'd like some help in picking the next topic.
Please vote in the comments below. The comment that has the most zaps will win. I'll post the short list as a set of comments to be voted on.
Taking a leaf out of Bitcoin QnAs book with how he did it on bitcoiner.guide once. Seemed pretty awesome, so let's see then.
The short list is:
Bisq Ashigaru Email Mullvad

It would be interesting to read a guide on Mullvad
Would you post it here?
reply
It hasn't been zapped yet though

All of these guides will eventually getting written and I'll cross post on my blog and here (SN)

Bisq, a really useful tool for buying or selling Bitcoin

You seem pretty damn knowledgeable, son.

I'm a bit autistic lol... I love to hoard information... SO for me getting in to bitcoin has meant easily over 10,000 hours of books, podcasts, website reading etc... I need help. But hopefully I can share some of that information to others in a helpful way.

Write a highly technical Bitcoin-Book as well as a Noobs' way of using and acquiring Bitcoin.
reply
I suppose I have to... Not sure about the "highly technical part" though. Problem about putting information about how to do something in a book, is that websites and apps change so fast... Articles, blogs etc are better for this

Yep, you're right.

how to fuck the gov

This may actually win as a category at this point, since no one has zapped the others πŸ˜‚. You scared everyone off with your comments about how everything is dumb and obsolete. You're too pro.
Also, where is your servers (assuming you're running more than one for your nodes, email etc) if you live under the stars in a jungle???
reply
Maybe you can write that guide. I'm genuinely not sure what I'd put in it. I'm more focused on personal privacy and financial freedom.

I already wrote one

Ashigaru, A new wallet with some interesting features.

nah useless

Tell me what you really think πŸ˜‚. Has anyone told you you're very opinionated Darth? πŸ˜‚ It's a really clean wallet. Play around with it if you haven't. I think the UX is arguably an improvement over Samourai Wallet. And it has Stonewall txs like Sparrow. Where when you spend, it takes two inputs from your wallet and two of the outputs are identical in amount. Pretty cool. It also supports ricochet, adding hops if you need that ability. Which is pretty cool since the DoJ seems to think it's subversive tech. +1 in my book.
reply
any mobile wallet without LN is totally useless
reply
You listed Samourai Wallet as a cache wallet. See, I've read your guide
reply
obsolete

I agree, since currently SW isn't being maintained ever since the developers have been indicted as criminals for writing privacy/financially focused FOSS. Let's at least agree that the govn can go fuck themselves for attacking code writing devs.
reply
TIL Darthcoin doesn't open his LN channels using coinjoined UTXOs. Tsk tsk.
Wait, what about the cache or vault in your banking system. Seems contradictory
reply
I do not use any fiat banking. bitcoin only
reply
Based.
One day I'll be there.
Right now, I engage with it a bit when I have to. E.g., it's how my teaching job elects to pay me. And I already have some stuff set up. Like a handy remittance app called Wise that let's me do some interesting things like quickly send fiat to friends and family who don't accept bitcoins.
And to be honest. I kind of like not having my job pay me in Bitcoin since they'd file taxes on my behalf with the government, totally doxxing my use of Bitcoin.

There are never enough guides about setting up an own node. There are so many methods nowadays.

I actually love how epically the premise of this discussion has failed. Literally NO one has "voted" by zapping a comment with the option in it. Yet there has been lots of conversation, which I actually prefer. This was fun. A failure turned fun.
reply
Corrected.
reply
Haha, thank you sir

What about a giude on: How to not upset Darth
reply
Would either be really long, or really short... Or just impossible to write. πŸ˜‚

why not a poll post?

Maybe I'll try it next time. Trying to replicate on SN something I saw someone do on their own website. It got a kind of bidding war going on. https://bitcoiner.guide/vote/ It raised like 700,000 sats...

I'm happy with my Zeus embedded node. But that sounds cool. Again, these guides will reflect my stack. In case it helps anyone.

Private email > Tuta, Addy.io, Proton mail

wait... people still use proton tuta and others as "private" emails? those are just throw away emails not private.
not your server/domain = not your email

I do use my own domain. My guides are about my stack.

how about writing this: not your server/domain = not your email

Good to see you again, fair lady of SN. I'm curious what your privacy/bitcoin stack looks like.

similar to yours:) but mine is simpler.

You saw my master list? I must say the one place I don't go yet is servers/nodes since I move around too much. I've never owned a home. I've lived in 6-7 places in the last 10 years.
reply
You saw my master list?
yes.
did you ever look up umbrel node?
reply
My Zeus embedded node works fine for LN. Definitely want my own server... Either with Debian or StartOS... But move too much to justify buying hardware like that... Just too many unknowns...
Not a fan of closed source tech... Plus I heard their dojo package is basically deprecated it's so out of date.

What a stupid statement it is. Logic died hearing this.
reply
just tell me how is private if you do not control the server entirely.

I also use my own domain, but those around me who use Proton and Tuta are no idiots. You're not a kid that I need to explain to you how simple encryption works. People are not so important that some agent is watching their private emails. Proton and Tuta are not for selling your data for personalized advertising. What proof do you have that Proton and Tuta are not secure? Did they sell data? Are they not using encryption?
reply

Are they not using encryption?
Proton emails only use E2EE between Proton users so their encryption is a big nothing burger. In any other case (which I assume is most of them), it’s using regular TLS and they can read your mails if they want to. Using a password for E2EE is not E2EE imo because you still need to send them the password in some actually secure way.
reply
Very solid answer. Still anything is better than something from Google or Microsoft I hope we all can agree with that.
But yeah trying to get E2EE with a Proton or Tuta account DOES have the drawbacks you mentioned, mainly, who is your counterpart?
reply
More private than using gmail like a normie. Nomads can't have email privacy? I have nowhere to put a permanent server, so I don't build one. Again, this is my stack. Once I write the guide, you'll see how I do it.
