Sounds like your expectations are good. Planting a seed is the right idea. I am sometimes (always?) disappointed at how people used to respond to my bitcoin enthusiasm. (I don't enthuse so much anymore).
But really, almost nobody changes their mind on something like with just one lesson.
I'm eating carnivore. The very first time I heard about it, I thought it was absolutely insane. But then I keep hearing about it. And from people I respect, like Saifadean Ammous. Then I hear or read something that convinces me to actively research. That's how I could actually be convinced of something.
I think other people are the same. Except not many people are as curious as I am (as probably most of us are).
So I want to give the kids as many touch points as possible! I was in my late 20s when I started with bitcoin, if some of them get on early, they can start in their mid-teens! that would be fucking awesome for them!
