NBA: Who are the top 10 players right now?
Alright stackers, I figured rather than doing another power rankings post (although we may be due for one soon) I would switch it up and focus on the best players in the league right now.
Here is my list:
  1. Nikola Jokic- Denver Nuggets
  2. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander- Oklahoma City Thunder
  3. Giannis Antetokounmpo- Milwaukee Bucks
  4. Luka Doncic- Dallas Mavericks (even though he is hurt)
  5. Karl Anthony Towns- New York Knicks (long live KAT corner)
  6. Jayson Tatum- Boston Celtics
  7. Anthony Davis- Los Angeles Lakers
  8. Victor Wembanyama- San Antonio Spurs
  9. Kevin Durant- Phoenix Suns
  10. Jalen Brunson- New York Knicks
Let's see what you have got stackers. I am skeptical anyone can make a better list than this but let's find out.
Sats for all, GR
Nice challenge. I was realizing that outside the top four, we're in a murky environment.
I'm going to make a top 10 pyramid, just to mix it up

That last spot is tough, but Sabonis is quietly having an awesome season: 21/15/7 on 61/48/76 shooting.
reply
It was harder for me to leave Sabonis off than Lebron.
reply
I would have Lebron over KD, but they might not even make my 5th tier over Brunson, Sengun, Haliburton, Steph, or someone from Cleveland.
reply
I could see that. Durant is having a really good year and has actually played in 77% of the Suns games. That is impressive for him.
reply
I've always been lower on Durant than most people seem to be.
He's obviously mega-talented, but I just don't think he plays quite the right way to maximize winning, so I always rank him lower than his numbers might suggest.
reply
Well, he could only win when playing with hall of famers in GS.
reply
He couldn't win a title in OKC with two MVP teammates.
After he joined Golden State, their record got worse, although I'll acknowledge that they became invincible when healthy.
reply
What do you think about the Raps winning 6 of their last 7? Are you ready to jump on the play in train?
They have a really tough 10 game stretch starting next week. If they can manage to go 4-6 in that stretch I think they will have a shot. Their schedule is softer down the stretch.
reply
I think they're too far back of Chicago and it's not looking like Chicago's going to blow it up.
reply
Trade deadline might have a big impact on it. If Raps sell or if the Bulls trade LaVine.
reply
I see Jalen and KAT no beefs here
But no jimmy butler? No LeBron? Kyrie? Stef? Ja?
reply
I don't even know if Jimmy Butler wants to play basketball anymore. Certainly not for Miami so I am not even considering him until he has a new home and is back to actually playing elite basketball. Lebron and Steph could still crack the top 10 for some people and Ja is great but as good as the Grizzlies have been his production isn't overwhelming this year. He would be in my next tier.
It is hard to leave Lebron and Steph off but I tried to focus on right now rather than in the past. I think both are still great players but not playing at top 10 level this year.

Good list. Do you think Steph and Lebron are top 10 players right now or are you basing that off their legendary careers?
reply
No, just an honorable mention

I guess our lists are pretty much the same. Overwhelming consensus here, with the exception of the last couple picks.
reply
I thought about having Antman in but KD is having a bit better year than him.
