Less than a week after agreeing to a 30-day pause on tariffs against Canada and Mexico, President Trump announced sweeping tariffs on steel and aluminum on Sunday. On his way to New Orleans to attend the Super Bowl, Trump told reporters that he would introduce a 25-percent tariff on all steel and aluminum imports to the United States on Monday in a move that escalates trade tensions between the U.S. and its northerly neighbor.

Canada can just apply for statehood. The US doesn't have internal tariffs.

You mean there's a way out of the steel and aluminum tariffs? I don't understand!

I'm just joking about Canada becoming a part of the US. Texas doesn't have to pay these, because it's a state, so Canada should just become like Texas.

No one imports steel and aluminum to do nothing, but to produce different things in an extended production chain. If Trump adopts this measure, he will be increasing the costs of all companies that use this material, and for this reason the final price will become more expensive for the consumer. I still think this is more of his bravado to get a better negotiation in the future
