The initial phase of the Champion League has come to a conclusion. Last night, Real Madrid beat Man City again (3-1). I think that Guardiola had decided before the match started which team was going to win it. He left as substitutes some key players such as Haaland, De Bruyne and Grealish. He was definitely showing that his intention was not to go for the match. Mbappé cleared the way right at the beginning, scoring his first goal at 4 minutes. Two more followed before Man City got their goal at 92 minutes.
The surprise last night came from an Italian side again. Juventus lost 3-1 against PSV in the extra time and is out of the competition. A full disaster for Italian sides which have lost all their ties (3) in the play-offs, leaving Inter as the only team from Italy in the last 16 round.
There was no surprise with PSG and Borussia. PSG destroyed Brest with a 7-0 win and Dortmund just got a 0-0 draw against Sporting.
Stacker results for the week
The very late goal that Man City scored at 92 minutes and PSV scoring a goal in the extra time, helped me to end up at the top of the table for the week. @grayruby, @Undisciplined and @Roll added 9 points each to finish second.
So, I have earned the 1200 sats for the week, which will be rolled forward to the UEFA Champions League survivor pool to start in March.
@grayruby, @Undisciplined and @Roll will receive 166 sats each in the lightning address of your choice.
Stay tuned as I will post the final standings and announcing the winners later today, after adding the points of this week and the picks we did in September.
