Another non-feature to turn off

If signal supported Lightning payments life would be great and they would become a killer app.

Actually their team is open to other systems, because MobileScamCoin is a failure and used by noone, they know it. They won't accept LN because privacy is not there yet (soon, I hope)
And before stories please usernames, we asked for long.

All we wanted was usernames.

"Give the people what they want" they say in this article. Who are the people? Lightning tips, thats what I want.

I would prefer to see some increased privacy capabilities such as the ability to run your own signal node

Signal is not designed to be federated: https://signal.org/blog/the-ecosystem-is-moving/
They actively discourage forks both for clients and servers: https://github.com/LibreSignal/LibreSignal/issues/37#issuecomment-217211165
There already are protocols and tools for that (Matrix, XMPP), not to mention pure p2p solutions (keet, briar, etc)

RIP Signal I guess?

Signal is still better than WA or telegram.
Personally I use it to communicate with normies. I can on-board them easily on Signal, the UX is amazing. No way I can do the same for the more decentralized alternatives.
