The comments are what is the most fascinating, not the actual editorial piece. It shows how extremely early we are still.
I agree with a lot on the skepticism of the crypto side. It was refreshing to see the government distinguish crypto from bitcoin as we all know it should be. But the generally public equates the two.
I think we are quite a ways away from hyperbitcoinization, but are headed that direction. Need to get people to start buying it to hold bitcoin not just number go up.
That's exactly why I posted this.
I find the comments absolutely remarkable.
Here we are talking about Lightning, multi-sig, Lightning-network proxies, LN-addresses, channel transactions, Stacker News 'fees'....
And the comments section for a reasonably-sophisticated newspaper (WSJ) are like... 'this crypto stuff is worthless...' it's 'gonna get hacked for 1.5 billion again...'
It's not clear if they're even talking about 'Bitcoin' or just 'crypto' in general (?) and I don't think they know either.
Stackers talk as if the whole world is going to 'dump fiat' and 'switch to Bitcoin' any day now and when it doesn't happen it's like 'what's going on?' But in truth the Bitcoin education among the public is really really low they have no idea what it is.
