I'm excited to introduce a crossover series that we're partnering with Global Sports Central on. Every month, we'll be soliciting predictions and rankings for various sports.
Our challenge, stackers, is to best the AI predictions that Global Sports Central will be compiling. The scoring system will vary by sport and whenever possible relate to something from that sport.
This first challenge will be to predict who the 10 best NBA players of the 2020's will have been. We haven't precisely nailed down the scoring criteria, but it will be some combination of being named to the All Decade Teams and other accolades, like MVPs and All NBA selections.
So, let me know who you expect to make the All Decade 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Teams for the 2020's, preferably also in order of best to worst within each team. Here are mine:
All Decade 1st TeamAll Decade 1st Team
- Jokic
- Giannis
- Luka
- Tatum
- Steph
All Decade 2nd TeamAll Decade 2nd Team
- SGA
- Lebron
- AD
- Ant
- KAT
All Decade 3rd TeamAll Decade 3rd Team
- Trae Young
- Jimmy Butler
- Haliburton
- Jaylen Brown
- Wemby
What do you all think of those teams? It started feeling a lot more uncertain early on than I expected.
Let's see if I can cc from a cross-post: @globalsportscentral, @Coffeee
First team
Second team
Third team
Gosh, it seems like I’m always low on Brunson. Otherwise, we were pretty close.
Brunson is great. I'm surprised you don't even have him on your third team.
Also, give Cade Cunningham a look. He's a major part of the reason in turning a bottom feeder team into a team with a winning record.
I leaned strongly towards guys who have already accomplished a lot.
I went Haliburton over Brunson, because I feel like he could be the leading assist guy a bunch of times and might be on just as good of teams as Brunson. I'm also concerned about the small guard thing with Brunson.
I did that for my first team. Everyone in there except for Luka are bus drivers of teams that won a chip this decade. I almost had LeBron instead of Luka on the first team, but it just didn't seem right, so I put LeBron on the first spot in the second team and Luka on the last spot in the first team.
The rest 2 teams, I based more on past, current, and potential performance.
Too much for me to do all 3 teams right now. Assuming all decade refers to to 2020-2029, I'll say the 1st team will be
Alright! We've got some variation already.
I realized I probably put too many western conference players in.,. Oh well
It's the stronger conference. I leaned more heavily towards guys who already won titles this decade. I figured there's more uncertainty with the others.
Yeah I noticed that too. I tried to be more forward looking but agree it's more uncertain
Question. By 2020's, do you mean 2020 till now? Or till the end of 2020's? Because we are only a bit over halfway through the 2020's, but still have over 4 years to go until the end of 2029. A lot can happen in 4 years...
Through 2030. A lot can happen indeed, but I think it's pretty unlikely someone could come completely out of nowhere at this point and make the team.
Got it. Thanks for clarifying.

You think Tatum will just not ever show the top gear of SGA and that will count against him?
There's a very good chance that Tatum will end the decade with the most titles and All NBA selections.
