Regarding the European football schedule:
- Most of local leagues (Premier League, La Liga, Bundesliga, Serie A and Ligue One) plays from Friday to Monday. From time to time, they play a mid week round when European contests take a pause.
- UEFA Champion League: top European contest. Best clubs on it. Plays Tuesdays and Wednesdays, though not weekly.
- UEFA Europa League: second European contest. Some top clubs may play here but most of the time are second line. They play on Thursdays , though not weekly.
- UEFA Conference League: third tier of European contest, most of teams are lower level, though this year Chelsea is playing it. They play on Thursdays too.
Do teams opt into the UEFA contests by invitation or are they seeded into them as part of their normal schedule?

Teams gain a spot in the European contest depending on performance in local leagues. For instance, in Spain:
- Teams finishing 1-4 in this year’s league will play next year Champion’s league.
- Team finishing 5th will play UEFA Europa League. Also winner of Kings’s Cup will play same contest.
- Team finishing 6th will play UEFA Conference League.
This will vary depending the country. This year Italy and German had 5 teams in Champion League due to good performance in European contests the previous year.
Also stronger leagues will have more teams participating.
