Let’s say you are diagnosed with the news that you may have dementia.
What will you do to preserve your memories? Or is it a foregone conclusion and nothing you do will help extend your span of alertness?

Probably start taking LSD again...
Psychedelics, such as psilocybin and LSD, interact as serotonin agonists, interacting predominantly with serotonin receptors in the brain (Jaster and González-Maeso, 2023). This interaction causes significant changes in the serotonergic system, which is a neurotransmitter system closely associated with the regulation of mood, cognition, and perception. Modulating serotonin receptors triggers a series of consequences, ultimately leading to the induction of modified states of consciousness

by the time you are showing classic symptoms, it may be too late, dementia gradually develops over the decades but people usually attribute the classic symptoms to usual aging, shit memory, 'senior moments'
so the ability to actually progress the facts may be diminished.
i think i would focus on making a good will, and living as much as i could before i was totally fucked.
Peter attia had a very interesting pod on dementia a while back with Lauren Miller Rogen https://peterattiamd.com/laurenmillerrogen-richardisaacson/
her whole family basically gets dementia but she was early to spot the symptoms and was able to do a lot to halt the progress. worth a listen

I'd play more video games. They've been shown to decrease the risk of dementia and improve cognitive functioning.
