Counting down the best ballparks in MLB. Last week's post can be found here #914815
The next ballpark on our list is #27
Rate Field- Chicago White Sox
Opened: 1991 Capacity: 40,615
Previously known as Guaranteed Rate Field, US Cellular Field and Comiskey Park II. The White Sox home suffers from being in the same city as the iconic Wrigley Field and poor seating design. Rate Field is known for it's distant and obstructed views. Being located in a rough neighbourhood doesn't help its cause either. One perk is the White Sox are so bad that you can get yourself a really cheap seat. It just might have a column in front of it.
#26 coming at you next week.

Is Reinsdorf still trying to get a downtown stadium or is that dead?
reply
I think they are still considering it.

Guaranteed Rate Field
😆😆
Still won World Series!! Before the cubs. Back when I followed baseball a lot.
They had my guy The Big Hurt. So many memories about the White Sox but I never been to the stadium so I can’t comment on this one. But from your description above, Arizona’s ball park is way better!!

The Big Hurt was amazing. He played a couple years with the Blue Jays as well but of course he is remembered as a White Sox.

That dude was great for sure. Crazy power and actually hit for average. Career seemed a bit short sadly. Maybe a better diet and could have prolonged it
reply
He had a good and long career but he battled a lot of injuries in the second half of it. He played until he was 40.
reply
Was referring to this. I explained myself wrong sorry. Yeah missed many games later on sadly

Something off topic but how about Greg Maddux. What a genius of a pitcher and fielder for his position. Was an absolute joy to watch even though I hated the Braves
reply
Absolute legend. Just a master of control and strategy.
reply
Couldn't add anything more to your observation. He truly was Ruby

So will they be planning to make a new one any time soon? Hmm nevermind was built in 1991
reply
They are actually looking at building a new one at some point in a downtown location.
reply
Because they can afterwards raise ticket prices and actually have a good team, or a chance for one.
reply
The team has been badly mismanaged. They had a decent young core a few years ago but injuries, bad trades and signings hurt them and now they have to rebuild again.
reply
True brother they have not been well managed that's a fact
reply
Yes management and bad luck is a recipe for disaster
