Hello @cryotosensei,
Yes, we currently have two honeycrisp apple trees, two pear trees and one cherry tree. Our neighbor has a crabapple and cherry trees. We also have bees to make sure they get pollinated well.
We had two plum trees that died from being victims of rabbits girdling them.
We raise various vegetables and herbs in two self-wicking boxes and others in several (up to twelve) hydroponics boxes. We raise some potatoes in bags, too.
We also raise several varieties of tomatoes, thyme, sage, rosemary, egg plants and chives and onions. We surround them in marigolds.
We also have patches of red raspberries and black raspberries (the birds brought these) that we let grow without too much effort put into them (they are delicious).
We also have about six hazelnut bushes, but the damn squirrels get to them before we can, all the time. They love eating the immature nuts.
The soil where we live is too sandy for good root crops
We do grow the milkweeds along with a lot of other wild-type flowers for the bees and butterflies.
This year we plan to go to a plant sale that has non-pesticide plants available to get all heirloom varieties of the plants. This seems to work well here. Our growing season is a bit short for a lot of things.
