It's time for stackers to choose the top ~econ post of the first quarter of 2025. We've had so many great posts already this year and many great discussions. It might not be an easy choice.
The nominees are the top posts of each month by zaprank, plus a bonus pick.
NomineesNominees
- January: California Wild Fires: Perspective of a Native Californian by @kepford
- February: Bitcoin and (Monetary) Economics—Properly (Bitcoin Policy Institute) by @denlillaapan

Give them a look and vote for the top post of Q1.

TBD...However, I described here how we're going to do it. Assuming full commitment and similar revenue for the rest of the year, here's what the winner's will receive:
- Quarter Prize: 33k sats
- Month Prizes: 11k sats each
Also, the winner of the Q1 award will be an automatic finalist for Top Post of the Year, which may win over 100k sats.

I'm undecided between #848838 and #889571
Finally went with the first one for the comprehensive narration.
No wrong answers!
Haha
I had voted much before I commented.
good choice!
You're is also great 👍 maybe next time. 😉
I like posts from denlillaapan a lot; my vote is always for his posts!
It's amazing that the other months had other stackers on top. If you look at the top posts for the full quarter, about 90% of them are his.
lol, I spam too much.
I need to get working on #6!
But I actually have a book review planned for my next post (which would go in ~BooksAndArticles)
It's only spam if people stop zapping it.
...and by people he means himself -- LOL
appreciate the love, fren <3
very annoying that I can't zap this post!!
(but obvs honored to be included, good sir!)
And, it's giving you cowboy credits. Insult to injury.
UNBELIEVABLE!
He praises me and honors me, then showers me in shitcoins.
It's a voucher for posting more award winning content.
Ooof
Maybe @k00b will let each territory have its own credits.
next time only forward 1% to top it off
?
Tough choice but I went CA Wild Fires. I appreciate the personal interpretation.
That post actually had the highest overall zaprank of the quarter.
People like personal accounts of things.
It's interesting to me, and I've found this to be true.
All are deserving. I wanna vote for all 4.
Thank you @denlillaapan, @SimpleStacker @kepford and @crrdlx for writing such great posts.
ouw, you flatterer there!
Flattered to be included.
I'm happy to accept any potential prizes (of course), but for what it's worth I'd worry a bit what a quarterly prize will do for the dynamics and incentives of simply posting what we think.
I think a yearly award, maybe spread over a variety of top posts, would be a nice shout-out and bonus to all the contributors, but yeah I'd worry about what a quarterly prize does for the social dynamics, kinda like how k00b thought that the leaderboard was fostering too much competitive angst. Annual awards seem like it wouldn't foster as much of that, since the time horizon is so long, it's harder to target strategically.
That being said, keep up the great work. I really appreciate your forward thinkingness and proactiveness in working to make this territory successful.
If it gets ugly, then someone can probably write a great post about why and earn a good chunk of change.
I don't think the size is actually that crazy. Several territories have weekly prizes that sum to similar amounts and ~Stacker_Sports has many contests with prizes this large.
I've also wanted to see how longer time horizon rewards might work out, since we'll have territory rewards someday. This is a step in that direction.
We can reevaluate once all the donor money is paid out.
Btw, @k00b or @ek, can we get a randomization option for the poll options?
You mean randomization of ordering?
Yep
