Remember when the internet was weird and fun? Reddit's r/place captures that spirit perfectly - and now there's a Bitcoin Lightning version.

What is LNboard?What is LNboard?

LNboard is a pixel billboard where:

  • You buy spots with Lightning payments
  • You add your image or link
  • Someone else can buy your spot later
  • The price doubles with each purchase

It's like r/place meets The Million Dollar Homepage, but powered by instant Bitcoin payments.

Why it mattersWhy it matters

This is exactly the kind of experiment Lightning needs. While the technology is impressive, what drives adoption are fun projects that let people experience Lightning firsthand.

Half of all fees go directly to OpenSats, supporting Bitcoin and Lightning developers. So this crazy pixel board actually helps fund critical open-source work.

The bigger pictureThe bigger picture

The early web thrived on creative experiments that introduced people to new technology through play. Lightning is at that same stage now - it needs more playgrounds where people can jump in without a big commitment.

LNboard doesn't require you to understand the tech - just send a few sats and you're part of a collaborative digital experiment that showcases what Lightning can do.

That's an amazing site as well. It's more of a clone of r/place though.

reply

Yes, this sats doubling on LNBoards really makes it spicy=))

reply

Spicy yes, but totally unsustainable.

So withdrawals are manually processed by you?

reply

Usually within 24 hours ;)

I like the concept! Two things that came to mind after trying it today:

  • Doubling the price is way to much to make this work in the long run. Maybe something between 10 and 30% could be reasonable?
  • Some form of publicity is needed. Why else would someone bother to pay for this form of advertisement?

Whats with the colors? They are not the colors from the original pics

I think there is some heavy compression going there;)

Tried adding a timelapse feature and it crashed. Should be back up shortly with updated capacity.

Yes, please, it's super fun, though I feel there are only 3 people posting now=)

reply

So did we crash it already? Interface seems unresponsive
