I don't use telegram, i don't want another app, i have literally like 3 people i even message i general, and yet i often hear about all kinds of telegram bots - a bot for this, a bot for that.
A good example would be the bitcoin bot on there.
And i wonder, am i missing out? Are there a ton of cool bots that could somehow be making my life better in any way?
or is it mostly hype and/or meh?
If there are some cool bots you use, lets hear about them because i kind of feel uncomfortable if there is some popular thing going on and I'm not familiar with it

I've written TG bots in the past (years ago, before I stopped using it for privacy reasons), often for personal/business use. What's nice about it is that you can send yourself notifications with a relatively straightforward bot API and have secondary command interfaces for querying. So you're on the road, you get a notification that some event happened for your business and then you converse with the bot to get more info about what's going on. Before TG I had it in Slack. After TG I tried with a signal bot but that's a terrible SDK. Now I have a bespoke app that I don't use often enough.
Bottom line, anything a TG bot offers can be reproduced on a more secure, more privacy-preserving platform.

Im not much of a coder but I have done some of this with signal-cli

IMO, the best bot in Telegram is @lnp2pbot. for buying and selling SATS no kyc.

i use robosats, but have have heard of the inp2bot, i would probably give it a test if i used TG

I have to use Telegram for work, so using it or not is not really a question.
As for useful bots, I have started using the @lnp2pbot more frequently these days. It's quite useful. But I'm sure you can find alternatives that don't require Telegram.

I am not sure if I am missing something, but I am not very knowledgeable about the Telegram bots. At some point I tried "lntips" and "satmobi" that are bots wallets, but only that and frequently used.
And of course the unmissable @lnp2pbot which is a fantastic and powerful tool (quite useful here in the third world)

I deleted Telegram. It’s replete with scammers. I don’t think you are missing out on much

It's simply the best messenger in terms of UX, it's super lightweight, fast and reliable. There's no second best for cross-platform use either, easily the best desktop messenger.
It even works better than native SMS over dodgy connections, I have no idea how that's possible. Pavel is elite and is/was very hands on as a technical founder.
This all carries over into making bots more useful and easy to implement. That said, the only bot I use is my own service monitor alerts. Idk what toys people are playing with.
Sadly there has been some regression on notifications since Pavel got detained in France about a year ago, they went from perfect to average, which is a bummer.
It's not a privacy tool to be clear, but since most people are already using keylogged phones and operating systems with hot mics I don't think that matters

No. You're not. I've wasted so much of my time and TON over the TG bots, i wouldn't recommend anyone using them. I even stopped opening the TG app for over 3 months now.
