another aspect that few stackers know:
  • if you use sats from an attached wallet (because I cannot say is a "self-custodial if users are connecting a coinos or other custodial), then SN is taking a tax on top of the routing fees.
  • if you zap with CCs that doesn't happen, only if you get a zap or deposit from outside SN.
I will always say: SN is "pay to post" not "post to earn". By not paying sats, you are actually stacking sats.

Hence you should run a node and open a channel to sn (there's no time like the present!)

If I could open a 0-conf trusted channel with SN node, maybe. Otherwise, is unproductive for me.

I shouldn't have said you should but you could... I think you get the point. Obviously there's many more factors going into node operating. As a side note, I remembered your water analogy yesterday when I (experimenting) set my fees on an ACINQ channel very low and started seeing the sats flowing out like hell! Had to tighten that valve, or the channel would have emptied, I'm sure of it ;)
