Was perusing twitter for the first time this week and I noticed something interesting.

@NEEDcreations did a poll about SN earlier this week. Have a look.

Not a huge sample size. Only 30 respondents, but I found it interesting that only 10% use frequently and roughly 2/3 haven't tried SN or tried it and don't use it anymore.

This is interesting and encouraging because to me the two most straight forward marketing campaigns for SN would be "You should really be on SN" targeting never users and "Have another look at SN" targeting folks who used SN in the past and didn't stick around for whatever reason but may like what it has become today.

I would be curious to see how similar polls on Reddit and Nostr would work out. @Aardvark are you still active on Bitcoin reddit at all? If not, do you know someone with a reasonable following who could run a Reddit poll about SN for us?

Next week I plan to do some fact finding on Nostr.

I expect similar results on Nostr since Twitter and Nostr are for the same different audience as @jimmysong explained it quite well in #913994.

I think our best chance is to convert Reddit users to SN. Reddit and SN don’t have as much of an influencer culture like Twitter and Nostr.

This unfortunately means we’ll grow slower but maybe also that we’ll keep it real?? My dream is that one day people will use site:stacker.news in their searches to find real human content, just like they do with Reddit now.

This definitely makes sense for the "influencers" in the space but what about just normal plebs? While different experiences, I think Nostr and SN certainly are complimentary. I am pretty out of Bitcoin twitter (hence only checking once a week) but there are still good folks like @NEEDcreations and @realBitcoinDog on there. I want to find those people in the muck, drag them out and bring them here.

My hot take on that would be that most of the "normal plebs" are just following influencers—or in other words: bitcoin NPCs

So they’ll naturally be where the influencers are.

Maybe we should ask @NEEDcreations why he isn’t here as much as on Twitter or Nostr? Just guessing that’s the case.

Ok but even if most is 80%. Maybe the other 20% disproportionately already uses SN. The remainder would still equate to hundreds of potential new users.

Interesting, the results probably related to its followers as I cannot see any hashtag in the poll. I replicated the experiment

Didn't realize that. Now that the twitter post is embedded, can't everyone just read the tweet in the post. I have no problem viewing it, even if I open a private window where I am not logged into SN or twitter.
