SÑ hasn't grown rapidly in this time period but it hasn't either gone downhill. It's been stable.
Why SN hasn't grown rapidly?
Some old man yelling at fresh blood us the real cause.
  1. That is downhill.
  2. The previous trend was uphill.
  3. That guy was also here during the uptrend.

  1. Agree
  2. Agree
  3. That guy wasn't as toxic as he's grown now. Also, he couldn't digest the challenge to his supremacy. Stacker News can't be just about his ideology alone. TBH, he isn't the only cause but he's been one of the biggest to draw away new and often astray people. Even though he calls me a lot of things, and went beyond SN to harm me, I still don't hat him but I can't stand his ways of dealing with newbies on SN.

He was in some sense equally toxic, but it hadn't manifested as severely against anyone before you.
Although, if you listen to @realBitcoinDog's podcast (or his appearance on the Stacker Sports Pod), he's met bitcoiners in real life who were previously turned away from Stacker News by Darth. You might be unique for sticking through it, more so than being a target.

I'm not getting alerts when you or @denlillaapan respond now, and all previous alerts i got from you guys disappeared. I wonder if SN thinks I'm a bot now...

If you're a bot?
I'm 100% a bot

It seems to be working again thankfully. SN would have gotten really boring if I couldn't get alerts from you or undisciplined

Because I stood against his ways of dealing with newcomers. For him, anyone who challenges his ways is his enemy.
I'll be here forever and I'll prove him wrong.

I posted a project on Geyser some time ago and I got these in comments.
I'm positive that the open hostility isn't helping, but at the same time, it's the internet. Thicken up that skin.

Guard dogs serve a useful social function.

While I agree, there's certainly room to be a guard dog, and still be somewhat reasonable.

Hypothetically, but part of being a free society and open community is putting up with weirdos.
I don't mind filtering out those who can't.

For sure. I'm definitely not suggesting some sort of rule to regulate behavior. I've seen where that leads and I'd much rather deal with a dick head than any other option. If I really cared that much, I'd make the adult decision to hit the mute button before I suggested any sort of actions against him.

It is a shame that it comes to that for so many people, because he really knows his shit and can be extremely helpful. It just comes with a high cost.
I've already muted him for forever.
