About this role
The Vice President of Corporate Development will drive strategic development and corporate development initiatives across Riot’s increasingly diversified business operations. In this role, the Vice President will leverage existing relationships, and develop new relationships, to identify new debt and equity capital sources for the Company, to strengthen existing, and create new, relationships with institutional investors, to evaluate and develop new growth opportunities in Riot’s self-mining, data center hosting, and electrical equipment businesses, both organic, and inorganic. This is a hybrid position reporting to our California corporate office.
Work closely with the Company’s executive leadership team, Corporate Development colleagues, and other colleagues within Riot in order to analyze business opportunities and execute on key value-added projects and transactions
Develop and lead the evaluation of Riot’s internal capital allocation decision-making process
Identify and execute on value-added capital markets transactions, including financing opportunities, to diversify Riot’s capital structure and lower the Company’s overall cost of capital
Evaluate strategic growth opportunities, including strategic transactions, acquisitions, and partnerships, to further grow Riot’s business lines and increase corporate value
Develop financial models and analytics to track Bitcoin infrastructure competitors, including other public and private Bitcoin miners, data center hosting providers, and technology / equipment providers in order to maintain up-to-date view on the competitive landscape
Prepare presentation materials for senior leadership and Riot Board-level review in key decision-making process
Participate in institutional investor discussions and attract institutional investors into Riot’s shareholder base alongside the VP, Capital Markets
Develop and maintain internal processes and systems to systematically evaluate investment opportunities
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), particularly Excel and PowerPoint
Proficient in financial analysis and the development of complex financial models to analyze investment opportunities, including financial forecasting, scenario analysis, “what-if” analysis, etc.
Experience with public company mergers & acquisitions, capital markets transactions including equity offerings, corporate debt, and commercial real estate investment/development
Entrepreneurial spirit and an “ownership” attitude required to drive projects forward
Strong interpersonal skills, able to quickly establish and maintain positive professional relationships both internally and externally and to work well with project teams and external advisors
Education and Experience
Passionate about Bitcoin and developing the Bitcoin ecosystem
Bachelor’s degree in business / accounting / finance
