Whether Chinese consumers or American farmers bear the brunt of China's retaliatory tariffs, it will be very painful.

I live in farming country and I can tell you Trump is VERY popular but there's a lot of concern about the trade war. This is how he buys them off. 

Relatively free trade has been good for many farmers and they are not pumped about Trump's moves but most I have talked to believe and trust him. If you don't get that Trump has been able to connect with people you haven't been around enough Trump supporters. There's a deep trust in many that he is fighting for them.
