An FT piece by Edward Luce(!), filed under "FT Swamp Notes," titled "TDS is a real condition" just has to be good, right?
Uh-hu.
The [TDS] diagnosis was indeed slapped on anyone writing or talking critically about then candidate Donald Trump. This kept going incessantly for eight years. About 104 days ago it mysteriously stopped.
Two errors here:
  • first: it's not talking critically about Trump, it's obsessively, constantly, unceasingly, hyperbolically treating Orange Man as the end of the world. Fuck you, dude.
  • second: it didn't stop... not even under Biden did the NYT (or the likes of you, sir) stop obsessing over Mr. Trump. While Ngram doesn't have data for the last 104 days specifically, the trend agrees with me that TDS is uncorrelated to Trump being or not being in office: Trump is the best thing that ever happened to the navel-gazing, out-of-touch intelligentsia.
Trump’s cabinet and half his party are suffering from a readily diagnosable disorder called TDS. I assume there is no need for a second opinion.
Genuine, best-version-of-his-argument interpretation here: Dude just has no idea what TDS means. Like actually means, like what it honestly refers to. Poor journos (#890832); almost out of a job/industry, always lacking relevance.
This categorization is utterly confusing (Where are you, Stackers?):
I divide US politics into three types of people; those who identify Trump as a unique threat; opportunists, Panglossians and others whose instinct is to apply lipstick to this pig; and genuine devotees to the Trump cult.
(and apparently, it's the devotees suffering from TDS; man, I don't know...)
My god, I question my life choices when I read this stuff...

TDS doesn't exist and never existed, and if you disagree you're a nazi just like trump. 😉

I am, it's true. -.-

Interestingly, his three groups don't include anyone who thinks Trump is a moderate or minor threat. That's the whole point behind TDS. His critics are incapable, seemingly, of putting him in realistic perspective. That's what derangement is.

precisely, well summarized.
My god, the gaslightning.
If there's more funds left in the Economist take-over funds... maybe we buy FT too. First order of business: get idiots the fuck out of there

So is BDS (Bitcoin Derangement Syndrome)

Don't forget CCDS

trashy bullshit.
I think all the syndromes should go. Actually, mostly just the derangement
