- There was a Zelle seller scammer who was tracked down by @TempleOfSats. As a result, he has posted some security recommedations for Zelle sellers on the Simplex group:
Attention, Robots – Some Good News! We’ve caught the Zelle scammer — none other than the user known as Temi above (man you came public....). Unfortunately, I was only able to apply a 3% bond penalty this time. It’s a step in the right direction, but with Zelle scams in particular, greater cooperation from sellers leads to stronger outcomes and better protection for the platform. IF YOU ARE A ZELLE SELLER, PLEASE TAKE NOTE: ・ Be cautious of red flags such as: - Long periods of silence (this is not always a red flag, but it becomes if pairs with other signs such as:) - Claims of payment when he obviously did not - Accusations that YOUR bank account is fraudulent/flagged ・ Never accept split payments in smaller amounts. This is a common tactic used in triangulation scams. In cases of suspicious behavior: ・ If the buyer disappears or falsely claims to have paid, do not accept a collab cancel. Let the chat timer expire so a Coordinator can intervene and request proof. If the buyer can’t provide it (as with the Temi case), their bond will be slashed. ・ If you’re offered split payments, open a dispute immediately. ・ Consider setting the bond higher than the default — 5–10% is recommended. This not only protects you but also creates a stronger deterrent against scammers that would lose a higher percentage on their bond. Stay safe out there and report anything suspicious!
