I went to The Range with @sox today. It was his first time and my second time shooting a handgun and a rifle.
Here's me shooting a Glock at 10 yards and the grouping (without the last three shots):
I forgot which variant it was but it used 9mm ammunition. I think it was a Glock 17.
Here's me shooting an AR-15 at 25 yards and the grouping:
I also learned today that the effective firing range of an AR-15 is 600 yards1, so 24x higher than what we were shooting at. I'm not sure I would even be able to see the target at that range. But I guess effective means suppression is enough?
What do you think? Is the grouping good for the second time? Or not because it was also just 10/25 yards and low rate of fire?

How American of you 🇺🇸

In my view you did very well, even considering that it is the second time and the short distance. If the goal is to be a John Wick there needs to improve a lot to perfectly hit the center of the ball from number 6 lol.

Finally got the life experience of shooting a gun ✅
Thankfully there’s no footage of me here even trying to hold the Glock because I was shaking like I was about to commit something.
I started centering the number at the last 5 ammos but even then… I’m not made for shooting. But it was sick as fuck.

Not bad for the first time, but you need practice. Especially with the 25 yard series, it seems like you shot quite randomly, the holes are not "grouped" somewhere. If I had to give a rating (considering that it was my first time), it would be 7.5/10

To shoot at those distances, you use different sights and generally you have a spotter by your side who helps you manage the wind and any external elements. To be honest, 600 yards seems like a lot for an AR-15, but I've never had the chance to test it, so I'll defer to the technical data.
