My Word Echoes in My Head as inspired by @ek
----------‐--------------------------------------------------------------------
My word—once soft, now sharp with edge,
It lingers near the memory's ledge.
I spoke it once in breathless haste,
Now silence wraps it, bitter-laced.
It tumbles down my thoughts at night,
A whisper turned to roaring might.
It ricochets in hollow space,
Repeating truths I cannot face.
A vow, a plea, a careless phrase,
Still burns in mind’s unwelcome blaze.
I said it sure, I meant it true—
But meaning bends with time’s own view.
In quiet rooms, it dares to rise,
A ghost behind my tired eyes.
No echo fades, it only grows—
A voice within that never goes.
So now I walk where silence bled,
Still hearing words I thought were dead.
For what I said, and left unsaid—
My word echoes in my head.
