The part that really makes Sci-Net stand out is the usage of decentralized tokens: Sci-Hub meme coins -- to reward knowledge sharing. When creating a request, you can specify the amount of tokens uploader will receive for sharing the paper. However, the tokens will not be transferred after uploading the PDF right away, but only after you check the solution and click the 'Accept' button. The tokens subtracted from your account will be added to the uploader.

Pretty cool idea turning paper sharing into a meme economy with real incentives. Feels very SciHub. Curious to see how it catches on.

Too bad it had to be a memecoin (is it still a memecoin when er get utility from it's use?), but it's about time we disintermediated the cartel of scientific publishers. I hope this makes a dent into the Springers margin, ideally we'd set it up to compensate authors and reviewers for their hard work, rather than the legacy paper transport system for information.

Yet, SciHub survived in large part thanks to Bitcoin donations after being cut off from paypal...
