Do I know anything about ball? Do I care which Silly American Team wins some Silly American Trophy? Nah.
But undisc is betting, and Nate Silver says they're good... so Imma throw my sats in the ring too!
HA!
On Friday, the Knicks advanced to the Eastern Conference Finals by demolishing the Boston Celtics 119-81. The win was uncharacteristically easy: the Knicks had trailed either at halftime or at the start of the fourth quarter in six of their seven previous playoff wins.
leeesssgooo
Adopting the Knicks isn’t quite so unkosher. Still, I wouldn’t have expected to ever become a Knicks fan. Then I moved to New York in 2009. I’m not sure why exactly, but I felt bad for the team after LeBron James spurned them the next summer, soon unexpectedly finding myself lurking in the comments sections of obscure Knicks blogs.

"The Knicks are the city’s favorite team. And since the city is full of people who migrate here from all around the country and indeed all around the world, they’re a focal point for old and new New Yorkers alike."

Can't say I understand what this is, but our dudes seem to take their time...
...but making a lot of points when it's down to the wire
Although the Knicks are now the top seed remaining in the Eastern Conference, they’re only barely favored against the Indiana Pacers, who defeated them in the playoffs last year. Conditional probabilities at major sportsbooks suggest they’d be underdogs in the Finals against any of the Timberwolves, the Nuggets or (especially) the Thunder.
Oh well, I'll take a 160 sats gamble on that! (#981221)
Pace is basically how quickly a team either shoots or turns the ball over. The Pacers (who the Knicks are now playing) have a very high pace, as befits their name.

why is that a metric...?
Doesn't seem obvious to me that that's a good (or bad!) thing

It proxies how quickly a team plays. Some teams have trouble playing against speed.

I think Knicks will beat the Pacers but not the Thunder in the Finals.

so the ultimate trade here is a) buy Yes Knicks now b) sell Yes Knicks after they move on to the final
reply
Probably a decent bet but if they advance to the finals and it is looking like OKC will also be in the finals don’t expect the Knicks prices to jump to 50. OKC will be heavily favoured.
