Maybe this is how Apple fixes their AI problem getting swallowed whole by OpenAI 🐳 one day.
I can't find my notes / the link, but a guy built a system where he wears a little clip microphone device with a giant SD card and it records every conversation that he's in, everything that he says. Then at night he exports all that, transcribes it, embeds things, links it, etc. So it's basically OTS hardware combined with software infra he hacked together.
There are privacy implications for others, of course (I wouldn't want my interactions to be recorded) but setting that aside, the utility / interestingness of this is just staggering; and it's something anyone can basically hack together a shitty version of for a hundred bucks or so, using commonly available tools and software APIs.
I bet it's a really good version of something like this. Hard to see getting over the privacy hurdle, but you can imagine ways that could make it more palatable. Someone's going to do it, whether we like it or not.

it's never good to announce an announcement. I would be very skeptical if this ever comes to fruition.

exactly. very high potential but google released actual updates today. i've got love for google but you gotta ship and then hype. I almost spat my coffee out when i saw. "next year" at the end.
No wonder altman had to say "when people use our latest model" They'll probably have 4 more version between now and the product launch and dont want to date this teaser.
Also i'd be terrified to use either OpenAIs or Googles wearables (until the graphene team has their way with it atleast)

I'm actually thrilled by this. I always loved Jony's thinking process and share a lot of his views.
In a recent interview with Stripe he showed how his thinking is in contrast with the general consensus. In a hyper simplification, Paul Graham taught the industry to make products people want, Jony wants you to make products your friend would use.
