I was less interested in this than most people, since we don't consume a lot of commercially produced eggs.
I could have imagined it going either way. The conditions birds are produced in are horrific and it wouldn't have surprised me if a virus tore through them. I know pig farmers are also having lots of biosecurity issues.
Basically, I suspected avian flu was mostly BS, but I also didn't really look into it.
A while ago, I would not even have thought about it because I was buying free-range, feed themselves, fertilized eggs from a co-worker who had about 50 chickens on her farm. Those were the best tasting and looking eggs ever, since they were found the day before she sold them to me. Now, I am in the city and have to take what I can get. That is a sad story!
