Founded in 1907, Real Betis will play tonight its most important match of its history. Some may discuss it as, just over 90 years ago, we won our last and only La Liga Championship. That team , coached by an Irish gentleman, Mr Patrick O'Connell, and with several Basque players, won the 1934-35 Championship. Unfortunately, a year later, Civil War commenced in Spain and we will never know if that team could have achieved some more titles.
After the Civil War, Real Betis struggled with financial problems which led the team to second division first and, eventually, to third division. In the mid fifties of the last century, they managed to promote again to the first division, staying there up to 10 years. Later on, another period of consecutive relegation and promotion seasons leading up to the seventies.
In 1977, it was held the first King's Cup after the democracy was reinstated. This time, Real Betis won it after beating Athletic Bilbao in a penalty shoot-out, needing 21 shots to become winner. It took 42 years for Betis supporters to celebrate this success.
Fast forward to 21st Century, where Real Betis has managed to reach the King's Cup final twice (2005 and 2022) and became winner in both occasions.
So, tonight is a unique opportunity for Real Betis, as we have never reached a continental final. Our rival tonight, Chelsea FC, is not an easy one. The total market value of their squad is around 900m €, whereas ours is just over 170m €. They have won Champions League twice, along with 6 Premier League Championships, among other titles.
Real Betis coach, Pellegrini, does not want to talk about a fight between David and Goliath, but it is what it looks like.
My brain says that Chelsea will win easily tonight but my heart says.... we will win.
Enjoy the match and good luck for everyone!
Best of luck to your team.

Without a doubt, a sensational story of this club is a pity that they have not won today, I am sure that they deserved more that trophy than Chelsea. However, there is the good performance that I take to that final, which tells us that this team can still fight for other commitments later.

What's awesome about football is that even the little guys, with pure fight and self-belief, can take down the giants. Chelsea's got some history and they've been playing better lately, but it's a final, man, anything goes. I called it 1-1 a week back #984379, and I've got no reason to change my mind.
Vamos Bétis!
