Yeah, so I did the thing like everyone else. Gotta inspect, gotta support ( #990709)
cashier was bored, a little annoyed: roller his eyes, called a supervisor, and stood by helpless. I asked if we were making his life difficult with all these lightning payments. "A little bit," he said.
Oh well.
Didn't get a qr code on the receipt, but a lightning address to scan on a screen. All well
Shouldn’t be that hard to teach all staff members how to receive Lightning payments.
I’m often baffled by this when visiting merchants accepting bitcoin.

The problem is repetition. We remember what we repeat.
Traditional fiat payment methods would also be a pain in the ass if workers only used them twice per year.
If Bitcoin payments actually become mainstream, workers will get used to it in no time. But these little one-offs from crazy revolutionaries like us just make their lives more difficult.

Same. It's unbelievably easy to wield

You are hanging out in the US of A?

Indeed. I'm one of these shameful Vegas schmucks so I'm here enjoying the show

Have you been to Vegas before?

Nope! First time

Are you gonna sample any of the local entertainments? Casinos, shows, cars, etc? Maybe make a trek out to Area 51?

Enjoy!

That's fun. I haven't been in over a decade but I used to go Vegas often. It is always fun for a few days.

I wish I was there! I'd buy you a drink!

There's a reason cashiers are being replaced by terminals...

They taaaake all our jobs!

The efficiency part of me loves it. The part of me that wants humanity to thrive doesn't. Not because of the machines but because of the humans being either to lazy or to incompetent to serve other humans.

Strange they're not using Speed Pay like all the other Steak 'n Shake receipts I've seen.

When I visited this week, there were no cashiers. All ordering was done on a kiosk. It was incredibly painless and simple to use.
Paying with Bitcoin, in a non-custodial manner, was a beautiful thing.

Its been a while since I've had Steak `n Shake but it wouldn't make my list for their burgers. I recall their milkshakes being rather good though.
In order if you are going for a chain fast food American burgers here's the list in order.
  1. In-n-Out
  2. Shake Shack
  3. Habit Burger & Grill
  4. Five Guys
Or come by and I'll grill up some really good burgers for you.

I suppose it is a matter that workers are instructed more and commercial establishments on how to manage payments to be easier and customer experience is lighter and more satisfactory.
I seemed to see some note in Nostr where customers pay a lightning QR code. ⚡
