The NBA and NHL playoffs are nearing the end. How have they gone so far? What do we think of the Finals matchups? And, will Canada finally end its embarrassingly long Stanley Cup drought?

In baseball news, Tarik Skubal pitches a "Maddux". I haven't looked up what that means, but I hope someday a "Skubal" becomes a pitching term, because it sounds cool.

ESPN has power rankings for the NFL. I'm guessing @grayruby feels that his 49ers were slighted.

Of course we also have many ~Stacker_Sports contests to update and whatever else the stackers want to talk about (maybe "mebounds").

A Maddux -- a complete-game shutout on fewer than 100 pitches
reply

Neat. I was expecting it to be some kind of shutout, but I had no idea what the qualifier would be.

When remembering Maddux, don't forget "Chicks Dig the Longball"

They don’t make commercials like this anymore.

I remember that commercial. I didn’t remember Maddux being in it.

I intentionally left the criteria for an Maddux out of the notes hoping you wouldn’t look it up and seeing if you could guess.

Skubal might become a pitching term if his current career trajectory continues. He is the best pitcher in baseball which is really saying something when there is a guy named Paul Skenes that pitches every 5 days.

What’s your guess as to what a “Skubal” will refer to?

reply

He did something unique relating to his Maddux so I am sure we can come up with something,
