That doesn't change the reality that USA can't beat elite teams.
In the sports we know, we beat everyone.

You too know Cricket very well. Even the world cup has been organised there.

That's only because everyone wants to expand into the American market. I'm confident fewer than 1% of Americans know the rules to cricket and fewer than 10% could even recognize it if they saw it.

Approximately 5.4 million people of Indian origin reside in the United States.
You can add some more millions of people from Cricket playing nations. Won't that be more than 10%? The world cup was organised in the US because of the cricket fans residing there not because Cricket needs US. Cricket is already the second most popular game in the world.
Talking about riches, UPL alone generates $6-7 bilion in revenue and is valued more than $12 billion. If you add to it all the Cricket leagues happening accross the globe, Cricket Leagues surpass any of US based sports. If you add to it the international games, Cricket is much much ahead of all of the US based sports like baseball or American Foothandball.
Be envious but an IPL match is watched by 100s of millions and the record numbers for an International game came in the 2011 ICC Men’s World Cup Final when 558 million global viewers turned in.

Is "reside in" the same as being Americans? If I move to India, will I immediately be an Indian who loves American sports?
Most American children of East or South Asian descent aren't allowed to play sports as kids, because their parents heavily emphasize academic pursuits. I'd wager that they're nearly as ignorant of cricket as the rest of us.

I'm pretty sure Indians don't leave their roots so easily. I'm not sure about you though. ;)
I don't think that Children of South East Asia are ignorant of Cricket just by not playing it. It's something that's in the cultural roots and is transferred automatically by their parents.
Even here in India parents normally emphasise on academic pursuits but everyone knows about cricket and loves/enjoys to watch at least the bigger games if not all.
