To get citizenship in Japan you have to find your way to get on an existing family register that the prefecture keeps (koseiki tohon). You can get there by an adoptive marriage, where you are adopted into the family, change your last name and become the husband of a daughter of that house. I am not sure what that does to your citizenship in another country, though. I met several guys like that in Japan when I lived there.
