Yesterday @WeAreAllSatoshi posted about betting against the epically bad 2025 Colorado Rockies #994785.
The Rockies have also been a major target for many of our Survivor Pool participants to attack and secure easy wins.
They are horrible but how horrible are they? Well, I am here to tell you.
Yesterday the Rockies became the fastest team to reach 50 losses in a season since the Kansas City Union in 1884.
The Rockies are currently on pace to have a 24-138 record this season. That would absolutely shatter the modern day record of 121 losses set by the White Sox last season and easily surpass the all time record of 134 losses by the Cleveland Spiders from 1899.
I don't think an average triple A team could perform this poorly. It is quite remarkable.
Is this Rock(ies) bottom or does the futility continue?
If these keeps up we might need a predyx market on that Spiders record.
Sats for all, GR
Yes, they’ve earned a Predyx market
reply
Pls help me frame this market.

We'll want @grayruby to weigh in, but I'd say something like "The Colorado Rockies will set the MLB record for losses in a season."
reply
We have to determine if we are going with the all time record of 134 or the modern record of 121.
reply
Multi-market?
Which futility record will the Rockes break?
reply
That's interesting but if they set the all time record both would need to resolve yes in that case.
I am so stubborn I would bet NO. I just can't wrap my head around a team being this bad for even this long let alone an entire season. It is baseball, bad teams win games all the time. I have seen some truly awful teams still win 40% of their games. This is really mind boggling.
reply
Historically bad teams don’t win games all the time, though.
reply
I am still in the camp the Rockies will at least improve to a reasonably terrible pace instead of a historically terrible pace.
reply
The Rockies' collapse is epic! 😵‍💫 . I'm signing up for the Predyx market.
reply
Great. Predyx is a lot of fun. I am sure @mega_dreamer will be pleased to hear you are signing up.
reply
Yes - super happy. The more the merrier.

Have you guys considered doing a weekly recap SN post about posts in the territory, similar to ~bitcoin_beginners?
reply
That was supposed to be part of the pod but we only like to talk about ourselves. Haha
reply
That’s fair haha
reply
We do occasionally bring up notable posts in the territory. We should do it more.
I don't know about a weekly recap because the most popular posts are usually the discussion threads and while games are going on and contest related stuff. But it's a good idea to do a monthly recap and highlight some notable posts that maybe some people missed.

I mean... at this point it’s not Rock(ies) bottom, it’s Rock(ies) magma. 🔥
The Spiders are sweating in their graves watching this collapse unfold. Honestly, it’s becoming less of a baseball season and more of a historical experiment in how bad things can get before the simulation glitches.
Someone should start mining sats at Coors Field — with all this pressure, we might get some diamonds eventually... or just more losses. 💀⚾
Do we short the Rockies... or do we start a charity?
reply
Haha good question.
reply
Crazy that we could see this record broken two seasons in a row.
reply
It's crazy a team can be worse than last year's White Sox. They were so bad.
reply
Brutal, funny, and painfully true rockies might really be setting a new standard for awful almost impressive how bad it is.
