#008 Feel the Breez
Apps everywhere are adding Lightning — bringing borderless, Lightning-fast, peer-to-peer Bitcoin payments to users around the world. And in the last month alone, over 100,000 people joined the Bitcoin economy through apps powered by the Breez SDK. Let’s dive in:

Breez + Lightspark Join Forces ⚡️
Breez is teaming up with Lightspark — making it even easier for developers to bring self-custodial Lightning payments into everyday apps and services.
We’ve just announced a new implementation of the Breez SDK on Spark — a Bitcoin-native Layer 2 built for speed, settlement, and scale. This implementation brings everything developers need to power Lightning payments: bindings for all major languages, support for LNURL and Lightning addresses, and more — unlocking new ways to use Bitcoin as a global, permissionless currency across use cases like streaming payments, monetizing social apps, in-game currencies, cross-border remittances, and AI micro-settlements.
As Roy put it:
“We need developers to bring Bitcoin into apps people use every day. That’s why we built the Breez SDK. We’re excited to build on Spark’s revolutionary architecture — giving developers a powerful new Bitcoin-native option and continuing to strengthen Lightning as the common language of Bitcoin.”
As part of the collaboration, Breez will also join Lightspark as a Spark Service Provider to help scale the ecosystem. We’ll be sharing more details soon — with the new implementation set to launch later this year — so make sure to follow us for the latest.
Breez SDK Partners Go Live 🚀
Another month, another 100,000 people with access to Lightning.
In May, more apps went live with the Breez SDK — bringing real-world Bitcoin payments to even more people around the world.
First up: Klever went live. With 100,000+ users across Brazil, Nigeria, India, and beyond, Klever’s mission is to make crypto accessible in underbanked regions. They’d been trying to add Lightning for years — but building it from scratch was far too complex. What they needed: effortless onboarding, no setup fees, zero channel management. That’s exactly what they found in Breez.
As Baiano, Klever’s CEO, put it:
“Breez was the winger who crossed the ball into the middle for Klever to score.”
Also going live in May: Cowbolt, a team chat and cost-splitting app built for families, friends, and teams to split and settle payments. The team announced their public release at Bitcoin 2025 — powered, once again, by the Breez SDK.
Welcome to Lightning, Klever and Cowbolt⚡️
Nodeless Keeps Getting Better 💥
The Breez SDK – Nodeless is our most popular implementation, and over the past month, we’ve added even more features for developers to deliver the best Lightning experience in their apps and services. The latest release brings complete support for both BOLT 12 and BIP353. Alongside this, Nodeless now also supports LNURL-Verify.
With everything you need for a world-class UX, you can now vibe-code Bitcoin payments into your next unicorn. Aljaz created context files for folks to use, so AI tools can work their magic. Check it out here → Context Files
And you don’t have to take our word for how easy it is now.
Here’s what a partner shared with us after using Cursor to add Bitcoin payments to their app:
I was playing around the JS SDK and used Cursor AI and was able to build a functional secure self-custody lightning wallet in just a few hours. The documentation and the functionalities of the SDK is amazing! And it just works.👏
Lightning Made Easy with Misty Breez 🌬️
As a result of the SDK improvements, Misty Breez now has complete support for BOLT 12 and BIP353 too. It’s also the first wallet to offer a customizable Lightning address that supports both BIP353 and LNURL.
That’s a lot of acronyms, we know — but here’s the short version: Lightning just got way more usable. And even better, any partner using the Breez SDK can offer the same experience. Plus, for freelancers and businesses using Zaprite, Misty Breez was announced as the latest integration to accept payments on the platform.
If you’re looking to learn more about Misty Breez, BTC Sessions dropped a new tutorial. In the (very) helpful video, he breaks down how the app works and explains why he believes it’s “as easy as Venmo.”
Breez Around the World (In 31ish Days)
From pasta to panels, the Breez team’s been busy — spreading the word on what’s next for Bitcoin payments.
We kicked off May with our annual team offsite. The team made the trip to Italy, where we mapped out plans, ate incredible food, and attended the (excellent) Tuscany Lightning Summit. The summit brought together the brightest builders in the space to discuss the future of Bitcoin and Lightning — all in the picturesque seaside town of Viareggio. Bitcoin, Lightning, and pasta — wonderful.
Later in the month, Umi and Roy flew to Bitcoin 2025 in Las Vegas, with Roy taking the stage twice during the 3-day Bitcoin extravaganza. First, he joined a panel on the latest developments in Lightning, moderated by Jordi Montes (Fewsats), followed by a conversation on Bitcoin’s evolution from digital gold into an everyday currency, moderated by Stephan Livera.
That’s all for this month folks. We had a lot to share.
We’ll see you next month for more on what’s happening in Breez, Bitcoin, and Lightning.
Until then, remember: the best time to get into Lightning is now — it always has been.
See y’all next time ✌️
