After an abysmal showing last year in the cup final (which we found out he was playing with broken ribs) last night Leon shines with an overtime winner!

It was a good game. Bad mistake by Nosek to shoot it over the glass on a clearing attempt to give the Oilers the PP. it’s was looking like it was headed to double OT.

Edmonton played very well. They had a good strategy to try and cut off the boards and not let Florida do their dump ins and aggressive forecheck to much success. But that game was very close. Florida had couple great chances early in OT. I think The Panthers came out too hard trying to end it early in OT and almost did but they were running out of gas in the second half of the first OT period. Edmonton outlasted them.
If Edmonton can sustain this level of play and keep playing good defense and getting good goaltending they will have a good chance to win the Cup because it is hard to hold their offensive stars down even for a tight checking team like Florida. I think after going down 3-0 last year and having home ice, Edmonton really needed game 1. We will see how Florida rebounds in game 2.
