If people don't understand the problem then a solution isn't worth much. This helps everyone watching it to make their own decisions about two halves of an island in a story - being very clear about where they would want to be (and not be) before they realise that the bad half is just a much better version of what we have in our lives today. They are already clear on the absolute need to separate money and state before this final realisation!
